Bible Reading: Isaiah 46 – 49; 1Peter 5
Scripture: ‘‘Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.’’ Isaiah 48:17
Observation: By the mouth of His prophet, the LORD upbraids Israel for their disobedience. Their refusal to listen to the LORD is attributed to their helpless and empty situation in the land of captivity. If Israel had listened to the LORD and done His will, then, would they have prospered without bound. ‘‘If only you had listened to my commands! Then blessings would have flowed from you like a stream that never goes dry. Victory would have come to you like the waves that roll on the shore.’’ (Isaiah 48:18 GNB).
Application: God is the creator of all that is. He alone knows the end from the beginning. In His wisdom, He knows what is best for us. It behoves on us to lean on His instructions if we are to be fruitful in our efforts. He knows the right path for us as He even sees things we cannot see or perceive. Therefore, taking heed to His instructions and commands in faith is one sure way to see us profit in every little thing we do…blessings that flow like a stream that never dries.
Prayer/Action: God’s word is our compass to life. Is your life dependent on it or on some other thought out pattern?
