Bible Reading: 2 Kings 23; 2 Chronicles 35; John 7.
Scripture: “Jesus replied, ‘I did miracles on the Sabbath, and you were amazed. But you work on the Sabbath, too, when you obey Moses’ law of circumcision…’ ” John 7: 21-22 NLT
Observation: The teaching of Jesus Christ at the Feast of Tabernacles steered up anger among the Pharasees as Jesus made very direct statements at them. He accused them of not keeping the Laws of Moses, and their deliberate attempt to kill Him. Jesus also pointed out their pretense or double standard approach to the law. He said that in keeping with the Laws of Moses, they broke the law of Sabbath, yet found everything wrong with Him doing good on the Sabbath. In other words, they obeyed or disobeyed they law whenever it was convenient and justified their actions.
Application: How is my service unto the LORD? Is my service to Him borne out of love, a pure heart and undivided loyalty?
Prayer: May nothing under any guise take me away from You. May I be totally submitted to Your will with a pure heart of love.
