Bible Reading: 2 Kings 21; 2 Chronicles 33; John 4
Scripture: ”In his distress he sought the favour of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.” 2 Chronicles 33:12 NIV
Observation: As King in Judah, Manasseh’s reign was marked with total and unprecedented evil. His reign was a complete departure from that of his father as he refused to follow in the footsteps of his father Hezekiah. He erected places where Israelites were encourage to worship idols, burning incenses and even sacrificing his son to his gods. This grieved God, thus, God brought the army of the King of Assyria and took Manasseh captive. He was led into captivity chained with a hook to his nose. But in his distress he cried to the LORD and he was heard and restored to his throne as King.
Application: It is never to late to repent of any thing not pleasing to God. What God desires of me is a humble heart, recognise my sins and go before Him in prayer. God is a loving God, He never condemns anyone for ever. He forgives and completely forgets.
Prayer: Wherever I am weak, strengthen me through the Holy Spirit to overcome. May my heart never stray from You; may it always be humble in Your sight.
