Bible Reading: 2 Kings 20, Isaiah 38 – 39, Psalm 75, 1 Peter 2
Scripture: ” ‘Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have worked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.” 2 Kings 20:3 NIV
Observation: King Hezekiah received news about his imminent death. The word from God was simple—prepare your house and wait for your final moment. Though it was God’s word, he nevertheless refused to accept the fate of death. He went into prayers with his on the wall—praying earnestly with strong reason. God immediately heard his cry and reversed His earlier pronouncement adding 15 more years to Hezekiah’s life.
Application: What would I have done if I were in Hezekiah’s situation? Would I have accepted death as my fate or sought God’s face as Hezekiah did? God hears and acts upon the prayers of His children. Knowing that the earnest prayer of the righteous avails much, I must never give up praying no matter the situation even if I am at the point of death and all may have given up on me. ”And this is the confidence we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us…” 1 John 5:14
Prayer: May my heart persistently look unto You in prayer. May I trust You always to heal, save and deliver even from the most difficult situation. May I never look unto another.
