“Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.” Hebrews 13:18 (Additional Reading: Isaiah 25-28)
Just before the author of the Book of Hebrews concluded his letter, he made clear his desire, which to me is not so common in our contemporary society. He expressed his need for prayers of the saints and went on to express his heart beat, which is a decision to live a life of honour.
How many of us today go before God in prayer with this mind set or prayer request? We all spent time today in our devotion and I can guess what we asked from God.
In all we do, people around us who do not yet believe should see Christ in us. Our character should reflect that of Christ. When our lives are weighed in the balance against the Word of God, no one should find fault in us. People should respect us because we uphold the Word of God in truth. As Christians, we should be people of integrity—complete in every sense, then God will be pleased with us and those who do not believe may believe by our character, which is honour displayed.
As the author prayed, may we continually pray also that in all things we may live honourably.
