Fresh Dew Daily Devotional: The God Of Wonders, Love And Mercy.

Date: 31/07/2013

Bible Reading: Isaiah 63-64; Psalm 107; John 2

Scripture: ” Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

Observation: God is the God of wonders, love and mercy. He is there in the most difficult times to save and deliver. In times of lack He provides. God shows His wonders, power and might by interfering with nature—turning the wilderness into a pool of water, thus, giving His people a fruitful harvest and enough water to drink. Yet, God also turns the sea into desert. When the poor are oppressed by their rulers, God stands in their defence. God indeed is wondrous, full of love and mercy.

Application: God is full of wonders, love and mercy. When the enemy comes hard against me, I will not be moved because I know God is there to save, deliver and provide.

Prayer: Thank You Father for Your wondrous deeds. May the ends of the earth see Your wondrous works in the lives of Your children. May all nations gather together to give You worship for You are the God of love, full of compassion and mercy.

Fresh Dew Daily Devotional: Jesus The Light Of the World.

Date: 30/07/2013

Bible Reading: Isaiah 60-62; John 1

Scripture: “The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.” John 1:4 NLT

Observation: Without doubt, Apostle John maintains that Jesus is the life and light of the world. He had existed right from the beginning. By Him the world was created. And through Him everyone and everything have life and light. The entire universe depends on Jesus for sustenance. As Paul said, the life we live, we live through the Son who loved us so much and died for us (Galatians 2:20). Simply put, the world is Jesus, without Him nothing and no one exist.

Application: Since the life I live belongs to Jesus Christ, I should present myself daily as a living sacrifice. Since this life of mine belongs to Jesus Christ, the Owner of this life should be seen in me.

Prayer: May this life You have given me bring praise to You. May You be continually seen in me.

Fresh Dew Daily Devotional: Will Jesus Ever Return?

Date: 29/07/2013

Bible Reading: Isaiah 56 – 59; 2 Peter 3

Scripture: “They will say, ‘What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the time of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created?’ ” 2 Peter 3:4

Observation: All these Apostle Peter said will happened in the last days as it is happening presently. Questions being raised about the second coming of Jesus Christ as promised in Scriptures. However, we are reminded that God’s word never fails: by the word God created heaven and earth and are kept by the same word awaiting the day of judgement. God’s patience is rather for the sake of mankind as He wants all to come to repentance. The day of His return is not known by anyone—like a thief at night that comes unexpectedly. Therefore, all should come to repentance and live lives holy and acceptable before Him that we may escape judgement of the last day, which is bound to happen.

Application. I must not take God’s patience for granted. Since I do not know the day of His return, my life should be pleasing to Him whenever He returns so that I do not become a cast away.

Prayer: May my heart be humble before You; daily expecting Your return.

Fresh Dew Daily Devotional: God Shall Judge All Sin.

Date: 28/07/2013

Bible Reading: Isaiah 53-56; 2 Peter 2

Scripture: “For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell…” 2 Peter 2:4 NLT

Observation: Indeed God punishes all sin. Even the false teachers who teach not for the sake or good of the people, but to make profit from the people will be judged. Just as God did not spare those angels that sinned, rather He threw them into hell, so all that sin will be judged. As it was in the days of Noah, when Noah and his family alone were spared from destruction for their faith in God but the rest were destroyed for their unbelief, so it shall be to all who sin against the LORD.

Application: Knowing, therefore, the fierce judgment of the LORD, I must turn away from sin.

Prayer: Cast me not away from Your presence O LORD! Take not the Holy Spirit from me. In all my ways, teach me to obey You in holiness and righteousness.

Fresh Dew Daily Devotional: God In Me To Overcome.

Date: 26/07/2013

Bible Reading: Isaiah 50 – 52; 2 Peter 1

Scripture: “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life…” 2 Peter 1:3 NLT

Observation: By virtue of the salvation we have through Jesus Christ, God through the Holy Spirit has deposited in us His divine nature. And because we share in God’s glory and divine nature, we are able to overcome all lusts of the flesh and other vices known to human nature.

Application: As God has given me His divine nature, I must put in every effort in the power of the Holy Spirit to withstand all attempts by the forces of darkness to make me return to my old ways of life.

Prayer: I daily depend on You LORD to help me overcome all lusts of the flesh. I also pray that my life should be a true reflection of your glory in me.

Fresh Dew Daily Devotional: To God Alone Be The Glory.

Date: 26/07/2013

Bible Reading: Isaiah 46-49; 1 Peter 5

Scripture: “I will rescue you for my sake—yes, for my own sake! I will not let my reputation to be tarnished, and I will not share my glory with idols.” Isaiah 48:12

Observation: God rebukes Israel for their unbelief despite all fulfilled prophecies. God promises again to do new a thing, which no one has done or anyone has heard of despite their stubborn and rebellious nature. Despite their disobedience, God promised to hold back His anger, and in fact rescue Israel from their enemies. God insists He would do this for the sake of His name for He will not share His glory with idols.

Application: Do I doubt the promises of God and His word or believe every bit of it to be fulfilled? Do I appreciate God for His goodness or easily commend myself or some other persons (idols), saying it was by my own effort?

Prayer: Be magnified LORD and be highly exalted in my life. Take Your place O LORD! In my life come and take Your place.
